Installing Drawers or Baskets

Drawers or baskets can be added to your closet in two ways. First, a basket frame system can be added. Second, a single sliding basket can be hung from beneath a shelf.

A basket system requires a mallet for assembly. Rectangular tubing is connected by small metal connectors. Multiple frames can be stacked or positioned side by side. Then plastic or wire baskets simply slide into the runners on the sides of the frames. The most important things when considering a basket system are the height and width of the system. Allow for the appropriate basket system height and width when installing shelf towers or stacks.

A single wire basket can also be hung beneath a shelf using ClosetMaid drawer glides. Here, you must allow at least 21" of space. The basket glide frames hang from shelf deck wires and are connected by cross braces attached with small bolts and nuts. The basket then slides into the runners on the glide frames.
